What is a Soft Reline? What is DenSureFit?

Find out what a soft reline is and what DenSureFit IS and what it is NOT.

What is a soft reline? What is DenSureFit?

A soft reline is a layer of a soft material that goes over your hard acrylic denture. It fills the voids that are making your denture loose to help achieve a better fit.

The soft liner is temporary and can be removed. It can stay in your denture for weeks or months. On average, people tend to keep DenSureFit in their denture about 3 months before removing and replacing their liner.

While the soft liner stays adhered to your denture, your denture still needs to be removed every night to soak in a denture cleanser and to allow your mouth to breathe.

A soft reline can be done by the dentist or at home on your own with DenSureFit.

DenSureFit is the first and only "at-home" soft reline kit made of silicone. The silicone is the same dental-grade silicone available to dentists. It is soft, flexible, odorless, tasteless and has no burning sensation when applied like some other "at-home" reline kits. There is no mixing required. The material self-mixes in the patented applicator for easy application. It is easy to use.

DenSureFit silicone is a lightweight impression material that takes a very accurate impression of the mouth. The new impression fills the voids and improves the fit and comfort of the denture. DenSureFit is also the ONLY build-able product. After the first initial application, as the gums shrink, more silicone may be added to the existing liner to keep the denture snug.

DenSureFit may be used on both upper and lower denture plates, partial dentures and upper horseshoe dentures.

Dentists also use other types of materials for soft relines that are different than silicone. Sometimes, a dentist soft reline might even taste bad or burn. DenSureFit does not.

DenSureFit is NOT adhesive.

  • DenSureFit is in the soft reline category while adhesives are obviously in the adhesive category.
  • They are two completely different products and should not be looked at in the same way. Adhesives need to be applied daily and do not make the denture fit properly. Adhesive simply helps a denture to stay in place. Denture adhesives include strips, creams/pastes/powders and thermoplastic adhesives. Examples are Polygrip, Fixodent, Secure, Cushion Grip and Comfort Lining, Dr. B's, Sea Bond and Effergrip, among others.
  • On the other hand, DenSureFit actually IMPROVES THE FIT of the denture. It fills the voids and gaps that are making the denture loose with soft flexible silicone that stays in the denture for months. The liner can be peeled out when it needs to be replaced.

Many people are able to completely eliminate adhesive-use by using DenSureFit. Others may still require an adhesive on top of the DenSureFit liner, but they are able to switch from using much paste adhesive to a sprinkling of powder adhesive. They report being very satisfied with DenSureFit because now their denture fits properly and they don't have the hassle of removing the paste adhesive every night because the powder adhesive does not stick to the mouth like the pastes do. A huge improvement in the way they live their life, they report.
