How should I apply DenSureFit is my denture is majorly loose? (Major Voids Application)

If you have used DenSureFit in the past and you already know that you have major looseness that requires more than 2 applicators of silicone at a time, you might want to try this variation of applying the silicone to get your best fit.

Major Voids Variation for Applying DenSureFit Silicone

If you have already used DenSureFit and 2 silicons did not make your denture completely snug, then you most likely have more void to fill in your trough area than the average user.

Most people with medium looseness require 2 silicons on their upper to get a snug fit. Using more than 2 applicators indicates more volume that needs to be filled. This is usually an indication that the wearer is due for a hard reline or new denture. For a newer denture wearer in the first year post extraction, they may just need to deal with the major volume and looseness in their "immediate" denture until it is time for a permanent denture or a hard reline on their immediate plate.

You might want to try this method next time you need to apply DenSureFit from scratch to get a better fit. This method is great for Immediate denture wearers who are in their first year post extraction when there are large voids to fill.

Quick Guide- EXTREME voids application variation

Please read these instructions along with the Instruction Booklet that came with your kit all the way through, first. When it comes time to apply the silicone to your denture, use the variation below with 2 silicons at the same time.

IMPORTANT!

  • You will need to work especially quickly when applying 2 silicons at the same time. Apply the silicone quickly and get your denture into your mouth FAST! The silicone does not need to be exact or pretty. Concentrate on getting the silicone onto your denture and into your mouth QUICKLY!
  • You must not allow the silicone (especially the 3 lines on the palate) to start setting up outside of your mouth. If it does, it will ruin your fit and you will need to start all over again.
  • Do NOT apply more than 3 lines on the palate. 3 lines go on the palate and ALL the rest of 2 tubes of silicone go in the TROUGH/GUM LINE area. The silicone on your palate needs to be as THIN as possible. If you over-build the material on the palate, you will ruin your fit. You will make the denture drop too low in your mouth and will also create new voids in the trough.

CLEAN, DRY & PRIME DENTURE

Follow the regular DenSureFit instructions in the booklet for cleaning and priming your denture.

Follow these instructions EXACTLY to APPLY 2 SILICONS AT ONCE:

1. Apply ALL of one applicator of silicone in the trough of the denture. (Ignore the line at the back edge that you see in this illustration. Just put it into the trough.)

2. IMMEDIATELY, grab another silicone applicator and apply 3 lines to the trough and then put the remainder in the trough.

3. Insert into mouth and seat firmly in suction spot. Hold 4 minutes.

4. If you still have more void to fill in the trough, add an additional tube of silicone to the trough using the Snug-Up application in the Instruction Booklet.

Here is a video where vlogger Krymsyn Tree demonstrates how she does it.
